PopRights is the blog for ‘Music Copyright in the Digital Age: Copyright and Creators in the UK Music Industries’ .
THE PROJECT. ‘Music Copyright in the Digital Age: Copyright, Creators and the Recording Industry’ is an ambitious 4-year interdisciplinary doctoral research project across the Department of Music and the School of Law at the University of Glasgow and funded by the prestigious Lord Kelvin/Adam Smith PhD Scholarship scheme. Focusing on the UK copyright regime, the project will scrutinize the role of copyright in the complex nexus that exists between popular music creators and record companies in the digital age. Central to this is an investigation into how copyright affects the economic, cultural and social experience of popular music practitioners.
